Josiane Ballin, PMP, President Elect for the PMI Alaska Chapter, has extensive international experience working with project teams in the United States, Latin America, and Angola. Currently, Josiane is the Project Manager for United Way of Anchorage (UWA). Before becoming the Project Manager of United Way of Anchorage, she worked for five years at Petrobras America Inc. (PAI), the Brazilian oil company office in Houston, TX where she participated in the ProAni Project - SAP Implementation. Prior to her positions at Petrobras, Josiane worked for the International Institute of Education (IIE) in Houston, TX in the development of the Scholars Program sponsored by Baker Hughes, to grant scholarships to students in Angola. Josiane's project management work and her translation skills have also made her a trusted translator of technical documents for the Oil & Gas Industry with both domestic and international customers. Originally from Brazil, Josiane has lived in her country's five different states (Rio Grande do Sul, Paraná, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais and Bahia), Palo Alto-California-USA, Republic of Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean, and Houston-TX-USA. She earned her certificates of Proficiency in English and Translation Proficiency, from Cambridge University, UK. Her Bachelor's degree in Languages is from Universidade Santa Ursula-Rio de Janeiro. Josiane's two grown-up sons reside in Houston, Texas. She resides in Anchorage with her lovely husband Paulo and enjoys cooking international food, going to theaters and movies, reading, and hiking.
