Join the PMI Alaska Chapter for a special evening of networking, learning, and celebration in Fairbanks!
We’re excited to bring Alaska’s project management community together for an evening at Black Spruce Brewing Company featuring networking, an interactive presentation on Leadership in the Age of AI, and an important milestone for our chapter — the official announcement and celebration of the newly established PMI Alaska Chapter Interior Branch.
Whether you are a PMI member, project professional, leader, or simply interested in project management and connecting with Fairbanks’ professional community, we invite you to join us. This event is free and open to everyone.
Welcome from PMI Global Military Affairs
Before our featured presentation, Matt Quick, representing PMI Global Military Affairs, will share a special welcome with the Interior Alaska project management community and recognize the establishment of the new PMI Alaska Chapter Interior Branch.
Matt’s remarks will highlight PMI’s connection with the military community and welcome project professionals from across Interior Alaska as we continue expanding opportunities for connection, professional development, and engagement throughout the region.
Leadership in the Age of AI
AI adoption is rapidly becoming universal, yet AI-specific projects continue to fail at significantly higher rates than traditional IT initiatives. If the technology keeps improving, why are organizations still struggling to turn AI investments into successful outcomes? This interactive session challenges the assumption that technology is the deciding factor.
Drawing on research and datasets from PMI, RAND, MIT NANDA, Gartner, BCG, McKinsey, Gallup, the GAO, federal agencies, and others, Ian Fox Minnock will explore why leadership — including intent, trust, feedback, decision-making, and team ownership — may be the real differentiator between AI initiatives that succeed and those that fail.
The session will move from the data behind AI project failure, to lessons from military and private-sector leadership models, and finally to a live demonstration in which a real initiative is pressure-tested with the audience.
What You’ll Take Away
- A data-driven perspective on why leadership can determine the success or failure of AI initiatives
